Years with Nighthoops: 8

Position with Nighthoops:
Strathcona Girls coach

Occupation: Youth Worker, Strathcona/Britannia Community Centre

Eric participated in the Nighthoops program as a player for 3 years, so it was a natural transition for him to want to coach in the league, which he’s been doing for the last 5 years.  He played competitive sports all throughout both elementary and high school, and while soccer, volleyball, hockey and dragon boating were all part of the mix, basketball was and still is his main focus and passion. After high school, he started coaching basketball, and fell in love with it, so he’s been doing it ever since. Eric is a graduate of Langara's Recreation Program, and he has a diploma in Recreation Leadership. In his free time he enjoys skateboarding, playing guitar, and of course video games.

Eric loves working with the youth in the program, and he really enjoys the time he spends with them. He believes that Nighthoops is a great program, because it gives inner city kids something to look forward to on weekends. He also believes that its great for players with less experience, because it gives them equal opportunities to participate in team basketball, and learn valuable skills from coaches and other players. He looks forward to continuing with the league for many years to come.
