Years with Night Hoops: 2
Deanna is a full time Master’s Degree student at the Adler School of Professional Psychology, and a mom to her two young boys, aged 2 and 5.
Deanna graduated from SFU with a degree in Psychology and Counselling and Human Development, and is enjoying this next phase of her education. She played a variety of sports throughout high school, including volleyball, softball, and of course basketball, and believes this involvement in sport helped keep her on a positive path in life.
Deanna is involved in several different aspects of the Night Hoops program, including helping with the new girls league, and developing life skills workshops for the kids. She’s developed a deep respect for the program, and believes it provides an invaluable learning opportunity for today’s youth. Deanna is a strong believer in the need for healthy, safe, and fun places to hang out on Friday and Saturday nights, and believes Night Hoops fits the bill perfectly. Deanna has seen first hand at games the opportunity to learn respect, teamwork, and problem solving, and believes the life skills workshops provided by coaches are an excellent tool to not only connect with the kids, but to also provide knowledge and skills that promote success in life. |
