Position with Nighthoops: Girls league Coordinator

Occupation: Vancouver School Board

Mitra has coached girls’ basketball at different levels since 1997, and firmly believes that the more we can get kids to do correctly off the court, the more we can get them to do correctly on the court. She is currently involved with basketball with the Vancouver Girls Basketball Association (Board of Director), VSB Athletics (Summer Sports Program Coordinator), Strathcona Basketball (Senior Girls Coach), Britannia Basketball (Bruins Junior Girls Coach), RBL (U-13 “B” Coach) and NBA 3on3 formerly Hoop-It-Up (Referee Cooordinator). As you can see from her involvement, she is a busy lady, and is passionate about the sport of basketball!

Mitra loves the concept of the Nighthoops program and the opportunities it provides for all youth. It’s been great for her to see the program expand, and to watch new the girls’ league thrive. She believes that it’s an incredible feeling to know that you are part of such a great program, that has hundreds of kids playing ball at the same time on Friday and Saturday nights.
