Years with Night Hoops: 7 years as a member of the Board of Directors, 5 years as Program Manager

Steve has been the Program Manager for Night Hoops for the past 5 years having previously been a Liaison to the Program while working as a Probation Officer. Steve has been an avid supporter of youth being positively engaged in team sports for the past two decades during which time he has coached basketball, baseball, softball, football, and volleyball. Steve currently coaches at Britannia S.S., Gladstone S.S. and the Aboriginal Friendship Centre where he is employed as Recreation Supervisor. He also serves on the Basketball BC Board of Directors.

Steve has worked in various capacities for Vancouver Parks and Recreation during the past 8 years after working as a Probation Officer in Surrey, Delta, and Vancouver for 7 years. Steve believes that through his conversion from Probation Services to Recreation Services, he can positively help youth develop their interests and sense of self through involvement in team sports. He also believes that working from a prevention perspective to positively guide youth to pro-social behaviours, is tremendously rewarding to all involved. Having worked as a Probation Officer, Steve understands the many challenges youth face. Night Hoops provides an opportunity to positively connect youth to the community. Steve feels very fortunate and proud to be part of the Night Hoops family.
